Tenali
Ramakrishnan was also known as Vikatakavi [jester poet] was born in the state
of AndhraPradesh. He was a court-poet of the Vijayanagar Empire during the 16th
century CE. He was one of the Ashtadiggajas who belonged to the court of King
Krishna Deva Raya. Ashtadiggajas is the collective title given to the eight
Telugu poets in the court of the emperor Sri Krishna Deva Raya. Tenali Raman is
very famous and remembered even today for his extraordinary sense of humour,
wit, brilliance and wisdom.
